Introducing the cfQuickDocs Firefox Search Plugin
Posted by christopher on August 29th, 2006
I spent some time working with a webmaster over at www.techfeed.net and have finally been able to complete a Mozilla Firefox Search Plugin for cfQuickDocs.
For anyone who hasn’t used it before, cfQuickDocs is a great (AJAX) alternative to Adobe’s online documentation. Straight from their website, cfQuickDocs is “… a tool that helps you quickly look up documentation on ColdFusion tags and functions.”
With this Search Plugin, you can type any ColdFusion Tag or Function into your Search box, and the documentation will appear automagically. I have been using it for a few days now, and it works wonderfully on my system. Please post comments with your experiences.
And now, without further delay, the Search Plugin! You can install the plugin by clicking this link inside Firefox.

Hey Micahel,
Neat idea, but I’m not sure exactly what you did. I bookmarked the site from your link, but I’m not sure how exactly entering “cfq (function)” is going to bring me to that page. Can you explain a little bit more?
Also, you’re aware this in itself is not a seperate toolbar, right? This is a plugin for the Firefox Search Engine box that usually sits up to the right of the address bar.

Thanks for the additional information, Erik, that’s really neat and a feature that I wasn’t aware of.

Christopher and Michael,
You can also use www.cfquickdocs.com?getDoc=%s

I had recently noticed in the Techfeed blog that there was a cfquickdocs.com donated by someone. Makes it really easy. Was that you, Aaron?
